first off, i am notoriously cheap. i just sold my 3-season gnu in austria for travel money and a lighter backpack. well, upon my return to the states i sent out my "deal" radar and recieved a response. i bought the 155 off a joyride sponsored rider for a 100 bucks.(it retails for about $450) i got it for this cheap knowing there was some delamination along the front, but figured i could fix that no problem. (NOTE: i have heard that their boards do this frequently)so, i rode the board that weekend and i loved it. it was super lightweight & carved beautifully (even on some icy conditions). i felt so immediately comfortable on this board that i was landing some jumps that on my old piece of shit, i never would have even tried. this board is 5 cm longer than my old one, so i was worried about my turns--for no need. it was so smooth...on a scale of 1-10 stiffness, i'd give it like a 6 or 7. it's not like a slab of marble, but it's way stiffer than what i've previously ridden. i like that.
now comes the heartbreak. after my weekend honeymoon, i returned home and stopped by a shop to get some advice on the delam problem. that's when i noticed that the front end was cracked--most likely because i had reversed my stance so the delam wouldn't get worse.
of course i got no warranty cause i'm so friggin cheap. and joyride is definately hip to situations like these, not sympathetic. well, the story will end in a couple weeks when my board returns from a secret intense northern surgery. i hope to finish off this season riding it.
the moral? don't trust a sponsored rider. and always postdate your checks.
