This is a great beginner board. It is easy to turn, light, and great for people who are just starting out. It's such an easy board to learn on that you will get good fast. And the price isn't half-bad either. Note that I say BEGINNER board. If you get good quick, you may have to buy a better board to accomodate your riding style. I used the GNU for only 3 months and wound up getting a high-end board. My only qualms about the GNU is that it does not handle granular/rocky/terrain areas that well. As a female, this is definitely not a good thing since (if I was not wearing my sports bras) I would have wound up with two black eyes. With guys, I suspect the same thing will happen to them and they will encounter the "jigglies".
