I bought my Donek snowboard after finding the website on the Net in October 1999. The reason I was looking on the net for a board was because I was looking to purchase my first board and didn’t want to spend the $450.00+ that Burton,K2,NeverSummer and all the big boys where asking for there decks! I called Sean, (Head Honcho) on the phone and he invited me to come down to the factory to see how they are made. He took me through the process step by step. He explained why he builds the boards the way he does, and explained the reasons why he does some things a little differently from the "Big Boys". Well, after spending about an hour with Sean I bought a board! I rode the board for the first time at Loveland ski area in Summit County Colorado. We have not had very good snow out here so far this year and at the time there was only man made snow on three runs. Not the best conditions! After the first run I knew that I had spent my money wisely! Fast,Fast,Fast! The board was out running my buddies K2 Fatbob. Every time I went to an edge I felt very stable, even at high speeds. The board has virtually no chatter at the tips, but it is still very flexible. I have ridden my Donek 15 times so far since Oct. of 1999 and it still handles great. Since I took the board out on the slopes so early this year I have managed to put a few boogers on the bottom. I am not too worried about it because I plan to buy another board next year and use this one as my rock board. The decks, brand new, are under $260.00. For a few dollars more I plan on having a custom graphic put on my next board. The only bad thing I can say about the board is, on my board, it doesn’t have wrapped edges, which makes it prone to chipping on the top edge of the deck. This problem doesn’t exist anymore because the new decks all have wrapped edges. I know because my buddy rode my board and bought a new 1999 Wide! You can go out and spend $400-$600 on a new Unity or a Burton, but you will not get a better board than Donek. Buy it, Ride it and I know you'll love it!
