previous board was a K2 167 widom wide, the gnu i bought also 167 wide. the gnu was 320$ the k2 was 399$ on sale 100 bucks off. no comparison, the gnu kicks ass all over the k2. it holds the edges so much more, is more responsive in corners and off jumps.
one thing i have learned, never think a more expensive board means a better ride!! i've only got 2 seasons under my belt, but i ride with advanced riders. they all have seen how this board has improved my riding too. the k2 seemed to have probs holding an edge at highspeed in hardpack. this gnu just cuts through and holds that edge. when i hit the jumps, it seems to have more pop, and helps set up nice landings.
i really recommend this board, and the company. quality and knowledge of their product shows when you ride it. it will be hard to get me away from a mervin made board.
peace
