I finally got on a demo Donek FC1 163 at Northstar at Tahoe. Sean and Jennifer were great to ship them out to us shortly before they were going to demo them at the West Coast Sessions Event in CO. New to carving but inspired by some great Euro and Free Carvers, I finally purchased a 156 Burton UP at the end of last season. I was thrilled with my Burton, until I tried the Donek FC1 163. With the added length, smaller waist, wider nose, and larger radius, the board wants to carve and hold smooth, huge radius turns. It does everything the UP does and more and made for a stellar ride! I’d read a lot about the Donek being a stiff ride but found it comparable to the UP. I’m saving my UP in my closet for all mountain but I’ll be riding the Donek every chance I get!
