I bought this board after a demo in Mammoth Mountain and used it on a variety of conditions there and around Lake Tahoe. It excels in deep powder. The board will float where your friends our waist deep and digging. It is less happy on packed powder, and will lose an edge where a stiffer board is still carving. It absorbs vibrations well however, and therefore, as a relative beginner, I felt comfortable at speed and on rutted trails. The graphite base certainly helped me glide on the flat - I seemed to able to keep going when others had already unclipped and were walking. Compared to the Sims, Salomon and Rossi freeride boards I have tried it feels 20% softer, but easier to turn. It does not feel as if you are riding a long board thanks to its softness at nose and tail. It is quite a directional board, but one that I think would suit those who prefer the big mountain to the park.
