I did a lot of research on snowboards, and I decided to go with the Altered genetics, and i'm glad that i did. GNU makes an amazing product but since it doesn't do videos or much advertising, they are not as popular as they should be, and they are not carried in too many stores, even though they are better than forums. The altered genetics 157 is wide, about 25.7 cm, and it has a big sidecut, which makes it even wider for those guys with a wide stance or duck binding setting. The flex is amazing. It is a pretty flexy board, so you can bend it very well for nosepresses, but it is still very stable at high speeds because of the big sidecut, and its flex is amazing for landings. When I first tried the board, I was amazed at how many jumps i landed on east coast hardpack/ice even when i got big air, even if the landing was steep or if only the tail or nose was hitting the snow. It's base is really fast, and it doesn't seem to scratch. It is also excellent for turns. It is a very forgiving board, the first time i rode it I was expecting to fall about 10 times from bad landings or jibs or ice or bad balance, but i only fell twice since the board just holds so well. It is a pretty light board, considering the length, width, and nose and tail width. Also, because of the 3 types of wood they use in its core, it also is very strong, and it boardslides so easy. If you have a size 10 1/2 boot or larger, I would definitely recommend this board, and if you have smaller feet, i would recommend the 155. This board may be the best one out there, if you are a real snowboarder of any type you should buy it, if you are a poser you can buy a forum and not be able to ride it or have it delaminate and not be able to get a new one, but real snowboarders will know and respect the altered genetics.
