I demoed the board for 3 days in our fresh snow on Zugspitze/Germany. In powder and backcountry this board is simply a dream. It "plans" and turns like nothing before, I guess due to its wide nose (31 cm) and radical radius (6.1 m), it´s a really surfy feeling even in choppy conditions. The drawback occures when slopes get harder and carving is scheduled. Running edge is short (120 cm) and the ride feels much more challenging than on my Supermodel 63, which provides 8cm more edge and a significant surplus of safeness in higher speeds.

Compared with a Supermodel or a K2 Electra, I´d rate its carving abilities 3 points lower. My feeling on this board is that it´s much more a freestyler than a freerider. I also tried it in the pipe and found it much easier to control than a Supermodel or the Electra of similar length.

So my overall conclusion is that the Megalight is my absolute favorite in pow and backcountry with a totally unique surf-like feeling, but has significant drawbacks if carving gets necessary.

It´s not the allrounder I´d expected it to be for my riding style but if you´ve the budget for a 2-board-quiver then give it a try !
