The Gnu CHB150 was my first board, and for that purpose, it is an awesome board. The ease of turn initiation and good flex facilitates the learning process(to snowboard, ofcourse). I wouldn't call it a complete beginner board, though. It's stable and torsionally rigid enough to handle high speeds, especially in powder or soft snow, but tends to chatter when hard carving on icy conditions(ie SoCal). If you're into keeping just enough speed for the park and pipe, the CHB will serve you well. It will stomp a 20 or 30 footers, probably the most of us real people will ever attempt in less than ideal conditions. If you disagree to the previous comment and think that you will go bigger at a park, try a higher end board. Or, if you simply love carving superfast, also look for a stiffer board. But for most people, the CHB is a good bet for a long... long... time.
