I am British but I bought this board on the recommendation of a shop in New York City.(The shop is on Ave of the Americas in Greenwich Village, Good range, prices, advice and the coffee was very welcome -cheers)I rode this board every day for a full season in Courchevel, France and overall I have to say it rocks.The board has a relatively relaxed sidecut which I felt worked excellently in all conditions. Dave Lee's have quite stiff tails, while the front 2/3 of the board is much softer. The running edge is also shorter than you might expect for a 156. This produced a board that worked brilliantly forward but could be a little dodgy fakie at speed.The short effective edge meant that I never felt over powered on what some of my mates would suggest was too long a board.The extra length and good sized nose and tail meant it was at home in the powder. I found it far more forgiving in the deep stuff than anything else I've ridden. This isn't too say its a board for beginners. You should be able to handle proper carved turns before considering this board.Lib Tech push the teflon base in their brochure but I have to say I didn't find it any faster than other quality boards.It is quite lightweight, party due to the lack of nose and tail protection (like all Mervin boards). I found this an advantage as hitting a rock very hard mid season, while messing the board up visually didn't create a de-lam that would have required replacemnet of the board.Overall a great board, good in the park (forwards), awesome off piste, and even has good graphics (Topsheet; Giraffe, Base; Sunset)I will be considering the 2000-1 Dave Lee.
